The Bob Carpenter Center Addition opened in November of 2011 and is now the headquarters for both men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. The 54,000-square-foot addition features two full-size basketball and volleyball practice courts that house viewing decks for observation and video equipment. New locker rooms, complete with private players lounges, provide space for the teams to dress and prepare for games, and theatre-style film rooms now accommodate scouting and film sessions.
"When you look at this facility, it blows you away. It’s on the top edge of every other conference in the country," said head women’s basketball coach Tina Martin.
New office suites, including conference rooms and a reception area, give UD’s coaching staff a professional setting in which to conduct day-to-day business, and a spacious entrance lobby provides a convenient location for recruiting functions and donor receptions. Moreover, UD basketball and Volleyball teams will no longer be displaced from practice due to activities in the Bob Carpenter Center and Bob Carpenter Sports Building.
"To have a facility like this to call your own is really tremendous and I can’t tell you how excited we are about it," said Monte Ross, head men’s basketball coach.
